A world-renowned marine ecologist and professor of biology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Boris Worm has written more than 100 articles in scientific journals and has made a significant contribution to the understanding of marine biodiversity.

Boris Worm is a marine ecologist and research professor at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His research program focuses on changes in marine biodiversity and the effects of fishing, climate change, and other human impacts on global ocean ecosystems. He is a frequent commentator on marine environmental issues in the media, and has won numerous awards for his scientific work and public outreach.  

Before becoming a professor, Worm earned a doctorate in biological oceanography and a master's degree in biology from the University of Kiel, Germany, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Ransom A. Myers at Dalhousie.  

BorisWorm has contributed to several ocean documentaries including Sharkwater (2007), End of the Line (2007), Revolution (2012) and Racing Extinction (2015). Since 2010, he has produced a regular column for CBC Radio focusing on ocean science and policy. Worm is co-founder and science director of the Ocean School, a collaborative ocean education initiative between Dalhousie University and Canada's National Film Board to improve ocean literacy among youth in Canada and around the world.
