Marcos Ymia has worked in the fish industry for 30 years. He started out farming shellfish in his native A Coruña, before moving to Madrid to supply fish to renowned chefs and restaurants such as Sergi Arola, Óscar Velasco from Sant Celon, and La Tasquita de Enfrente. He then took his business international by exporting fish to Nobu in London.
He later bought a longliner in Tenerife and started fishing, marketing the catch in the Canary Islands. The company currently owns 17 boats, which all fish locally and sustainably in the waters off Lanzarote. They also collaborate with other boats on the island of El Hierro.
