The algae revolution: an assessment of macroalgae and microalgae as foodstuffs in a global context

The power of algae inspires the development of a global foodstuff.

In this presentation we will conduct a review, from a global perspective, of the current situation of levels of production and the market for algae (macroalgae and microalgae) as a food source. We will focus most particularly on the growing interest in developing this sector in Europe, where policies concerning sustainable development, the blue economy and the circular economy are converging towards innovative action where algae have a substantial contribution to make.
