Chinchín Puerto Restaurant (Caleta de Vélez, Málaga)

Skipper and fisherman, he set up the Chinchín Puerto restaurant with his wife, where he applied all the knowledge he had learned at sea. There, he offers simple recipes and with them he wants to honour the greatness of the excellent sea product.

Sebastián Guerrero is the owner and ideologist of the restaurant Chinchín Puerto. After a lifetime as a boat skipper, he decided, along with his wife Lourdes Villalobos, to dock in the port and offer fish as he enjoyed it on his boat, good and fresh. Thus, in 2015 he opened Chinchín Puerto, a place where the luxury is the product and how they cook it. So revered is it that they show the complete traceability of each species from a board installed in the room; so revered is it that Guerrero is now studying biology to deepen his knowledge.  

Located in Caleta de Vélez, one of the most important fishing ports in Andalusia, Chinchín Puerto is a simple but impeccable restaurant with a terrace and high, luminous ceilings, just a few metres from the sea, from which Guerrero doesn’t want to be far away. To emphasize this connection, it offers customers the opportunity to take a walk and have an aperitif on board the catamaran Zostera through the coves of the Axarquia before sitting down to eat at the restaurant.  

Chinchin Puerto was recognized in 2018 as the Best Restaurant by the Gastronomic Academy of Malaga.
