Javier y Sergio Torres
Chefs at Cocina Hermanos Torres*** (Barcelona, Spain)
The brothers' culinary vocation appeared early in life, and they are best known for their treatment of produce through technical and sensory reflection.
Javier and Sergio Torres discovered cookery when they were still children, through their maternal grandmother Catalina. It was she who first taught them how to get the best out of each product, and both of them then went on to develop their knowledge in the kitchens of grand masters such as Pedro Subijana, Alain Ducasse and Santi Santamaria.
In 2002 they decided to combine their talents and go into a partnership at El Rodat in Jávea, on the Costa Blanca. More restaurants followed: in 2007 Eñe opened in São Paulo (Brazil), and its replica appeared in Río de Janeiro in 2009, and in between, in 2008, they opened Dos Cielos in their native Barcelona, at the Meliá Barcelona Sky. They earned two Michelin stars there, the first in 2010 and the second in 2018.
But their business expanded with Espacio Ilusión, a creative laboratory they opened in what was formerly their grandmother's house. In 2017 they opened Dos Cielos Madrid at Gran Hotel Meliá Palacio de los Duques, closed the homonymous restaurant in Barcelona, and then opened the restaurant they now run in Barcelona: Cocina Hermanos Torres (which now has three Michelin stars and a Green Star).
