Árni Mathiesen has more than 30 years of international seafood and policy experience, both as a member of the Icelandic Parliament, as Icelandic Minister of Fisheries and Minister of Finance and, most recently, as Assistant Director-General of the FAO in Rome and Head of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, where he worked for ten years.
Árni is currently independent Chair of the Global Marine Ingredients Round Table and Senior Advisor to the Iceland Ocean Cluster. He obtained his professional qualifications at the Royal College of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a Master's degree in Aquatic Veterinary Science at the University of Stirling, Scotland.
